Richard Jeremiah — Spiritual Warfare
The War Is Real — Understanding the Battlefield Before You Fight
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” — Ephesians 6:12
The first thing you need to settle is this: the war is real.
Not metaphorical. Not psychological. Not simply the result of bad decisions or bad luck. Real. Spiritual. Structured. Governed by laws. And aimed directly at you — your calling, your family, your health, your mind, your future.
Most of the church teaches Ephesians 6:12 and then stops short of telling you what it actually means in practical terms. It means there are structured ranks of evil in the spiritual realm. It means those ranks have assignments. And it means they use human beings — sometimes knowingly, sometimes unknowingly — as access points, as weapons, and as altars to carry out those assignments.
Most Believers Are Losing Ground They Don’t Have to Lose
The church has largely taught believers that salvation covers everything — that simply being in Christ means the enemy has no real access to your life. And while your positional standing before God is absolutely secure in Christ, your experiential daily life is a different matter entirely.
Positional freedom and experiential freedom are not the same thing. You can be saved and still have demonic legal claims operating against you. You can be forgiven and still be walking in the aftermath of wounds and covenants that were never specifically broken. Salvation covers your standing before God. Deliverance enforces that standing in your daily life.
This is one of the most important distinctions in the entire battle — and the church’s silence on it has cost believers years of unnecessary suffering.
The Law of Agreement — How Both Kingdoms Move
Everything in the spiritual realm — both the kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness — operates on the principle of agreement. This is not abstract theology. It is a governing law of the unseen realm, as reliable and consistent as the law of gravity in the natural world.
Faith is agreement with what God says. Witchcraft, in the spiritual sense, is agreement with what the enemy says — and the enemy will use every tool at his disposal to get you into that agreement. He does it through words spoken over you, through dreams, through gifts and objects, through yokes, through false prophets, and through your own mouth.
What you align with, you give power to. The battle is fundamentally a battle of agreement.
The Four Categories of People Around You
Scripture identifies four distinct categories of people you will encounter in your life and in your church:
- Sheep — genuine believers walking in the Spirit
- Goats — unbelievers, but generally not assigned against you
- Wolves — openly destructive; their nature is visible if you are paying attention
- Wolves in sheep’s clothing — the most dangerous category. They look like sheep. They talk like sheep. They may appear even more spiritual than genuine believers. But inside, they are assigned to destroy.
Jesus did not warn us about wolves in sheep’s clothing as a figure of speech. He warned us because this is how the enemy most effectively infiltrates, destroys, and dismantles what God is building. You will know them by their fruits — not their words, not their gifts, not their personality. Their fruits.
What Altars Are and Why They Matter
The concept of altars is central to understanding how this war is fought on both sides. In the Old Testament, God established altars as the place where the natural and supernatural realms met — where sacrifice was offered and covenant was made. The enemy copied this system. Evil altars are places — physical or spiritual — where dark covenants are made and spirits are dispatched with specific assignments against specific people.
In the New Testament, something profound shifts: the believer filled with the Holy Spirit becomes the altar. Wherever you go, you carry the presence. You carry the meeting place between heaven and earth. Which is exactly why you are a target.
Declare this — speak it aloud
I am not fighting for victory. I am fighting from victory.
I am seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus, far above every principality, power, might, and dominion.
The enemy has structure, but my God has sovereignty.
I choose to see clearly. I choose to understand the battlefield.
Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
